Whitehorse (Yukon)-  Leading into Business Development Bank of Canada, Small Business Week, the däna Näye Ventures Board of Directors and staff are celebrating 35 years of building businesses in the Yukon and Northern British Columbia.

To mark this anniversary, däna Näye Ventures launches Small Business Week by unveiling their new website and awareness campaign highlighting that they work with all Northern entrepreneurs, not just First Nation businesses. The updated website features the services offered to assist businesses as well as showcases Business Success Stories.

“We are very proud of the work accomplished over the past 35 years, assisting Northern Entrepreneurs to realize their business dreams,” stated Maria Benoît, däna Näye Ventures Chair. “It is important to stand up and recognize the contribution and value of small local business in building a healthy and vibrant community. We encourage all Yukoners to make their purchases locally, keeping dollars circulating within the Yukon economy and supporting local entrepreneurs that have been hit exceptionally hard with the COVID-19 restrictions.”

As part of Small Business Week, däna Näye Ventures are inviting people to stop by their offices at 409 Black Street, to meet their Business Team and learn about the programs they offer including:

  • Business Training
  • Business Support Services
  • Financing for Business

On October 22 between 10 am and 3 pm, visitors can participate in a draw to be eligible to win a prize in celebration of Small Business Week. Please note, COVID-19 protocols are in place at the däna Näye Ventures offices.

What is BDC Small Business Week?

For 40 years, BDC has organized BDC Small business Week TM in recognition of the contributions and achievements of Canada’s entrepreneurs. BDC Small Business Week TM is a BDC trademark whose origins date back to 1979 when BDC business centres in British Columbia’s Lower Fraser Valley pooled their resources to organize a week of activities for entrepreneurs. This first event and the one that followed in 1980 were so successful that BDC officially launched BDC SBW across Canada in 1981. The initiative was quickly adopted by Canada’s business community.
